AFAIK, the only risk is that with some versions of ALSA and/or kernels (but
not mine nor Carl Eugen's), ffmpeg may block indefinitely if the sound card
is already opened instead of failing immediately.

AVFMT_FLAG_NONBLOCK is very rarely implemented, as far as I can see, ALSA is
the only output device that takes it into account.
