Well, when someone filmed a solar eclipse for example I'd always call the time of the solar eclipse the "content" creation time.
Just re-encoding and probably even adding (and even more removing) an audio track wouldn't change it.
Though I guess just never setting creation time by default should be ok, I just didn't find the reasoning in the commit message very convincing.
