I will send you a link to an Apple produced h264-in-mov 
with a fiel atom (I was unable to find a direct link).

Could you elaborate?
This is a very often asked question on the users mailing 
lists and I so far assumed that the information is not 
available (and that this is the reason for the - very 
useful - idet filter).

As said, the "other" dnxhd decoder was tested and does not 
fail if the atom is present.
