The FPGA implementation is really ambitious. I don't know what
they are thinking, but i'm sure they have no idea how
much time, knowledge and experience is needed to do
a hardware implementation of a piece of software.

I'd guess, without knowing the complexity of dirac,
that you'd need something between 10 and 50 man years
for an fully working dirac implementation in VHDL or Verilog.
If not even more.
