I was actually referring to:

MP4Box -raw 1 <mp4-file-with-h264-video-from-ffmpeg>

Can you please check this? What version of gpac are you using? I am
using cvs from last week.

Hmmm. It would be nice if there was some test suite or reference
"player". But at least if quicktime can play it, I guess most people
will be happy ;-)

I guess you already checked quicktime player, and it didn't play before
your patches and it did after your patches? Sorry to sound a bit
ungrateful here ;-)
