Do not hold me to the details, I did not pay much attention, but the current
code is based on GPL code. Since it was (mostly?) rewritten it could
possibly be released as LGPL with enough lawyering but that is not the
way we would want to handle things.
But the author of the code on which the current AC-3 code is based has
agreed on relicensing it under LGPL as soon as E-AC3 decoding is added
(i.e. as soon as someone else has added a significant contribution).
Or in short: to make AC-3 LGPL relicensing is necessary, and for the
author to agree on relicensing E-AC3 must be integrated.
