This does not awnser mikes question. Or is the task for the student supposed
to be to read the existing optimizations and then figure out if any SSE4
instructions could be used to improve them?
IMHO, a specific task would be:
Optimize the crc code to use the CRC32 instruction
Or review the code for occurances of "packed abs" and replace them by the
corresponding SSSE3 instruction. (with benchmarks of course)
And i suggest you pester loren to help with this list, ive the feeling he
might be most qualified ...
