i mean user cutting a mpeg file at random, users do this ...
and yes there should be a SPS within some not too insane distance
with some luck the SPS might even be picked up during av_find_stream_info()
and moved into extradata via h264_split() and then be available for the first
frame ...

Its not that you shouldnt use gotos but rather that you should write
readable code and code with gotos often but not always is less readable
