dont bet on me reading and finding all things in here, if theres something
important like a bug clearly tell me please. The log's so full of idle off
topic chatter that shouldnt be in the ffmpeg-dev log ...

Rewriting code that is poorly written but fully understood is good.
Rewriting code that one doesnt understand is a sign that one is less smart
then the original author, trying to rewrite it will not make it better.
