I got

which pointed to _ff_mpeg1_decode_block_intra in the map file.

to be honest I was taking short cuts (benchmarking a dvd stream from a 
ripped DVD that my wife picked up at a garage sale) still pthread.lib 
did not crash.
It's bed time here but I'll try to reproduce later.
