Sure, possibly would be nice to have reasons to do and do not something
and hopefully come up with a way to balance the pros and cons

Well libavutil is about 6 times bigger than libavcore, most if
everything provided by libavutil is also provided by eina, I doubt
somebody would use avutil over some full fledged utility library.

I could see that having just one utility library instead of two slightly
different would spare the time to decide what goes where for sure.
Obviously not having avcore around makes the life of those who use
autocompletion easier (before avc -> avcodec, now avco{r,d} -> avcore,
avcodec) but is probably a smaller thing.

it's usually better avoid library proliferation if possible (e.g. avoid
creating libavdecode and libavencode)
