crypto related stuff are strongly connected to multimedia ones and
generally crypto and compression are in the same family...

I was considering libavutils for commonly used data structures and
operators, not crypto stuff (nss? openssl? polar?)

Looks like we have quite different visions of what's the most
connotative item inside libavutils and we aren't talking about the items
that landed in avcore already...

libavutils - Group of generic utility functions useful to build
multimedia applications: data structures, allocators, algorithms, format

That would be my description for the library
