  As I quoted in my other mail. A variable number of columns is not
recommended by the RFC. OTOH I have used variable number of columns
often in the past and never had problems with it. I think fixed number
of columns for CSV is overly conservative and we should not adhere
to that if we implement a CSV output for ffprobe.

  I can guarantee you won't have any problems with most CSV libraries
and in my experience the spreadsheet programs work too.
