there are packed and planar formats, for video and audio.
Audio LRLRLR... LLLL... RRRR...
Video YUVYUV... YYYY... UUUU... VVVV...
And yep, thats hideously consistent, planar formats have planes not
just for video but also for audio

A patch that uses a differently named field than linesize for audio is
