If we can not use the Video encode/decode API, can we use CUDA for
acceleration for decoding/transcoding? CUDA sdk is available on linux now.

If that is the case I wonder if the NSA, sorry Google, would be interested
in swooping on the tender like they did with Motorola?

Mubadala stated last week the that are going to bankroll AMD with money
(printed by the Carlyle Group) if AMD runs out of money this month  (which
they will unless they start making sales again) so maybe that will give
them enough time to turn the ship around. However the structure of AMD is
looking remarkably similar to Apple now that they do not actually produce
anything. They sold their stake in Global Foundaries last year to the
Chinese Govt so now they are literally just a marketing team for hardware
produced by third party manufacturers much like Apple Inc.

Considering that they are doing so badly at marketing themselves these
days the prospects for making something big happen this year are looking
slim to nil. If they continue to ignore the open source community and
Linux then they will not see any growth.
