Use case? Considering product development target

and you need recent expensive quad core SMP cpu hardware (~25c/kWh) and/or closed source GPU video accelerator drivers and libs (Not supportable by Bino,too,
maintainer statement: "The currently used software decoding is sometimes too slow, especially for full HD stereoscopic content. [...]"[1] )
are off topic for a free OSS product, I've not fixed performance of libavcodecs/crystalhd.c yet, this makes not much sense and so Your pure formal(?)
development process requirement collides my (Transcoding before playback, less power cost) and MPlayer(1) (realtime playback) product targets in this case,
