Basically the point is about if there is some developer willing to
mentor the task, and no other developer claiming it, which in some
cases could be faster/less painfull than relying on a GSoC student.

But of course the spirit of GSoC is not (only) about writing code (for
which it may even be counter-productive), but also about educating and
attracting new contributors.
