Sorry for picking a random thread, but I wondered if you have any plans to support some special features.
For example there are quite a few variants of how fbdev can support YUV.
I implemented for example the variant that the BeagleBoard uses in MPlayer (because unfortunately OpenGL is basically impossible to get to work on it), but it's a bit messy (e.g. requires manual setup).
If you have no plans I might check if I have time to look into it a bit.
Also if anyone else has tips on that matter that is welcome.
