Your commit message should contain a 
hint to vf_lut, most people here seem 
to believe in "lavfi/vf_lut: Added..."

Did you consider to split your patch in 
two? One patch for the factorisation 
and one for the actual adding of the 
slice mode? (May be overkill.)
