You don't have to learn a whole lot of git to be able to submit
patches. There are enough guides and manpages that will help you along
the way. The time you spent defending your position on not learning
git was probably enough to learn how to use git to produce acceptable
patches. Knowing how to use a modern version control system might also
benefit you apart from being able to contribute to FFmpeg.
