BTW, this is offtopic, but this tty freezing business is one of those things
that makes me wonder why stuff on *-nix does not have better defaults?
What is the excuse for a shell not cleaning up children it spawns?
Is it POSIX compatibility?
Or is the excuse that some obscure shell script out there depends on tty state
being modified after running a command?
I would like the default to be saner, but I doubt I have the
energy/expertise to work upstream with all this stuff.
