a very wild guess ...
others use gmail and it works for them
you use gmai and it does not
if i assume you both use the same server, i would try to use strict
SSL with cert checks for the connection to gmails servers.
Its theoretically possible that something in your network intercepts
SMTP and rejects large mails as some kind of spam/virus protection
but then this is a very far fetched guess that could be far off
