 The output video probably looks like crap, because your command line don't
 specify a bitrate.

 In general, a sample is a good idea, but I personally won't download big
 videos like this. There is no way to know what the content is.

 Please show us the complete and uncut output from:

 ffmpeg -i infile.mov
