Comment:

 Though minor, figured I'd reopen this.  More screen shots for comparison:

 The image from the lossless RGB recording is noticeably paler than the
 source's colors.  VLC exhibits the correct colors.  You can verify this by
 using OS X's built-in "Digital Color Meter."
