 how so, as someone pointed out, 57 isn't set yet. I'm only looking into
 the future

 There's already sufficient changes in 57 that pretty much dropped every
 API we were using (get_buffer, memory allocation etc..)

 currently none have an issue, we work with them all (but none of them ship
 with anything > 2.8).
 I'm only looking ahead, for when master becomes 2.10 (or 2.9?) or whatever
 and it starts to be packaged and distributed.
