 Yes, indeed it is not standard to have timecode track in mp4 files, there
 is although a Technical note from Apple on how to handle timecode in this
 case. If time permits it would be nice to review the feasibility of this
 implementation.

 I will see if there are some sample files from Final Cut Pro X with mp4s
 and timecode.

 I also can reach out to the Apple FCPX development team if need be.
