 What you think is 3/1 is what ffmpeg calls 4.0
 Any other application failing to use ffmpeg correctly is their fault, not
 ffmpegs fault - so report it to Kodi if they handle it improperly.

 Note that playing over HDMI is another topic entirely, HDMI does not
 properly carry a channel layout when playing raw PCM, thats entirely
 unrelated to how the audio was encoded.
