 I'd also appreciate something in regarding this one... It's stupid newer
 hardware and their related SDKs affect older hardware and 'disable'
 features from them..

 Plenty of nice Thinkpads with good HW that could support QSV without
 problems. With these laptops you'd still appreciate the hardware encoding
 capabilities and thus extended battery life.

 Also.. Many FFmpeg builds that are offered on Windows (OBS and Zeranoe for
 example) work fine with QSV even on Sandy Bridge.
