 Why isn't it the right place to discuss? It's reporting a "bug" .

 Uncompressed video shouldn't alter the code values. That's why it's a
 "bug" .

 If there was some other rationale, some other reason behind "why" it's
 coded like that, I'd like to know

 And if I knew how to "fix" it, I'd already have submitted a patch.
