 Maybe "damage" was misleading somehow, but the encoded version loses
 significant color quality, which is not what one would expect to happen.
 The patch sure seems to fix the same unexpected quality loss, just with a
 different encoder. I'm open to suggestions of an alternative ticket
 summary.
