After a 4-day encode of a long video collapsed at the end, I spent more
time trying to isolate the bug and realized that the AV1 encoder included
in FFmpeg is more than 2 years out of date. There have been many bug fixes
in that time. Please update it!

 Libaom version 3.2.0: https://johnvansickle.com/ffmpeg/release-readme.txt

 Libaom version 3.8.1:
 https://aomedia.googlesource.com/aom/+/refs/tags/v3.8.1

(The wiki at https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/Encode/AV1 mentions alternative
encoders but they seem to be experimental as they are not included in the
 published build.)
