[FFmpeg-user] Status of two prores decoders/encoders

Hi,

is there a place where I can find out why there are two prores decoders
(both LGPL) and two encoders (also both LGPL) and what the pros and cons of
each are?

I am asking because it is hard to decide which one to choose if one wanted
to sponsor development of a certain feature (e.g. support for alpha).

Btw, are there plans to get rid of the duplication at some point? Or is
this not going to happen because of the merges from libav and there is a
codec that is the one preferred by the ffmpeg project?
