Thank you for the link to this information. I was unaware of this. 
PCLinuxOS currently has ffmpeg 2.0.1 in the testing repo. The current 
position is "This package is in testing since there are many apps that 
need patching since they do not build with this version."

I will await its release from testing and resume using it then.
