libx265 isn't used for decoding, only for encoding.

I can only guess your computer is too slow. Can you show us the
complete console output of your ffplay command?
> ffplay -threads 8 <video_input>
Additionally, can you show us the complete output of
$ ffmpeg -i <video_input> -t 30 -f null -
