no, see mplayer lists. it's needed to support a lame commercial
internet-tv service that insists on encrypting the stream and giving
you the decryption keys... presumably this kind of thing will come up
more and more in drm'd video, etc., so i guess it was thought
appropriate to add small crypto to lavu for the purpose of handling
it.
however, a new alternative to openssl would be great too!
