Hi,
version.h was not present in the latest release. I downloaded it, but did
not find version.h. Its generated when you build it. In the latest release
its giving #define FFMPEG_VERSION "SVN-rUNKNOWN".

Yes, definitely not one of my best shows! Once more with feeling:
* download the 'bare sources' snapshot
* make distclean
=> version.h is removed
* configure
* make
=> new version.h with -rUNKNOWN
Hence version.h should not be removed when it is known that version.sh
(invoked by the top Makefile) would result in a new version.h with
-rUNKNOWN.
This does not impact my builds, but it has the unfortunate result that a
user of the 'bare sources' snapshot, following all the recommended
procedures including the distclean, ends up with an ffmpeg that reports
-rUNKNOWN, which complicates support.
