re topposting - i am using gmail, so used to it, cant help :)
re rebase - completely recloned the tree (i am from svn world, cant
get used to git)

re patch - sorry for my ignorance how do i create a correctly indented
patch  provided people are inlining it in the body of the message (not
complaining just asking for advice)
git apply reimar.patch
error: patch failed: libavformat/mxfdec.c:1634
error: libavformat/mxfdec.c: patch does not apply

man git?
