I need to investigate, but I didn't think that MP4Box handled styles
either.

I've ended up using Handbrake as a baseline - it's mostly mp4v2
internally. No apple samples, as even their free files are encrypted.

Agreed. I can certainly add a plain text test against an HB or MP4Box
sample.
