iam not sure which profile is safe for common players but yes the
default should be one that  works on all relevant players.
There should not be any need for it to match exactly a existing
official profile but could also be one that maximizes quality &features
while still playing on all relevant targets.

Theres no problem with printing such a warning, ive no objections to
that, my concern is that i dont belive most people will conciously
see it.

the 10 million friends they share with on the net ?
and their friends have friends themselfs, besides
knowing the type of phone each of their friends has and knowing what
h264 profile each supports arent the same.
The user either would have to know that or type in all the 50
phone types their friends have as targets. Neither seems realistic
to me.
