 Oh, my bad... given that every single search result I have seen lists
 ppa:savoury1 I had assumed this was the right one.
 Can you point me to the ffmpeg ppa? Or isn't there one? If not then is
 compiling it myself the only option?

 Kubuntu 22.04 LTS seems to have a serious issue if ffmpeg cant be
 reinstalled.
