 Balling, my friend, if you're hoping I can help you, I'll tell this:

 H.264 architecture does not have I- P- or B-frames. If x264 does, then
 x264 is in error.

 H.264 architecture does have I- SI- P- SP- and B-slices.

 I think that access units are virtual: network abstraction units (NAL
 units) that are collections of I- SI- P- SP- and B-slices that are
 delivered in packets that used to be called "PES".

 I think that elemental streams (ES) have been demoted to simply be access
 unit delivery vehicles.

 I think that NAL unit 5 is the physical tag for IDR.
