 Yes, SMPTE 12-1 time codes. I see no way to change them during the splice.

 I agree. Is that because of the SMPTE time codes? It's "side data". I've
 never understood what "side data" is. I've asked several times on ffmpeg-
 user but no one answered. The docs mention "side data" but don't explain
 what it is, how it's used, that it can be changed, or how it can be
 changed; just that there is a thing called "side data".
