 Semi-related to this topic: I submitted a patch to Linux for the 10 and 12
 bit formats used by ffmpeg:
 https://lore.kernel.org/all/20250407191314.500601-1-robert.mader@collabora.com/.
 Having DRM FOURCCs upstream will e.g. allow buffers to be directly
 imported by GPU drivers (if allocated as DMABuf), avoiding unnecessary
 copies.

 Comments / suggestions (especially regarding naming) very welcome :)
