a re-wrapped AVC_2048_1080_H422IP at L42.MXF to Quicktime .MOV
also requires the -vtag aivx to play in the QUICKTIME PLAYERX.

ffmpeg -i AVC_2048_1080_H422IP at L42.MXF -c.copy -vtag aivx FFMPEG.MOV

For autoselect the correct -vtag an extra condition is needed in movenc.c

Also worth knowing is that Apple introduced this week a new
mxf codec, the AppleMXFImport.component this will allow
playback and direct editing of MXF media with HDV, MPEG2
and XAVC. Full discription can be found.

The latest version of FCPX 10.1.4 stores the orginale media
now as mxf and nolonger rewrap to mov. QUICKTIME PLAYERX
still requires .mov with the correct vtag to play
