I meant like: mkfifo? With which user? With which permissions?

I did
$ mkfifo /tmp/foo
One terminal:
$ ffmpeg -progress /tmp/foo [...]
Other terminal:
$ cat /tmp/foo
This output looked perfect. No warnings or errors from ffmpeg.
