[FFmpeg-user] stuck on ffmpeg version 2.8.15

I actually checked my command line history and I did use the correct
command:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:jonathonf/ffmpeg-3

but I missed the "f" when I typed it in my email.

However, I removed and reinstalled ffmpeg without the -y option. When I run
apt show ffmpeg the output is:
