A short presentation follows.

I've been involved in FFmpeg since 2007 and I have had commit rights
since 2008. My main focus on FFmpeg has mostly been on usability
(documentation and API extension and improvement) and on extending its
capabilities, in particular towards the area of media processing
(that's the root of my interest in libavfilter development).

Since the summer of 2010 I also worked as consultant for multimedia
and FFmpeg-related issues so I had the opportunity to get an
impression of how FFmpeg and multimedia technology is deployed in the
ICT industry.

With my partecipation in the foundation board I'd like to focus on
funding and user-driven development and support. In particular I'd
like to finalize the implementation of a donation mechanism.

Having a working and integrated funding mechanism is fundamental for
achieving a more professional support level, in particular I'd like to
see implemented per-issue voting and bounties, so that we can focus on
the resolution of issues which are considered more important by the
users community.

Another role of the foundation should be focusing on the resolution of
long standing issues, especially when they require a cooperated
effort. This may be helped by sponsoring internal or external
developers for working in the affected areas.

At the same time I think we should have some periodic face to face
meeting, this would help to relax the inevitable tensions before they
reach the boiling point. This can be achieved by occasionally funding
travels or taking part in the organizations of events related to
multimedia technology.

The economic management should be as transparent as possible, we
should have a list of donors and in general we should try to make as
clear as possible which are the criteria and the mechanisms adopted
for deciding sponsorships.

Finally I'd like to take part in the board as a mean to mediate
between the FFmpeg and Libav projects after their split, having a
common channel of discussion can help with improving cooperation and
resolving conflicts.

Best
